re·new·al (rəˈn(y)o͞oəl/) The action of extending the period of validity of a license, subscription, or contract. An instance of resuming an activity or state after an interruption.
Spring finally seems to be upon us here in the great state of Texas following some very late season snow, ice and below freezing temperatures. With spring there is always a feeling of making things new, of bringing things back to life or renewing activities that were hibernating for a season. Renewal happens constantly in our bodies and needs to happen in our minds as well in order to keep fresh ideas, vision expanding and forward movement with the missions we have in life.
As the snow and ice has melted with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures, I have taken a closer look at various areas around the exterior of my home and have seen much that needs to be renewed so I started making some lists.
About these lists, my closest friends and my wife would agree that lists are a big part of my life. I love to make lists about things I am dreaming about, tasks that need to be completed over a long period of time or simply a list for the grocery store. Some of you might be familiar with the Gallup organization and their Strengthfinders but if not, it is designed to highlight your top 5 strengths or talents and help you to best use them at work, at home or as a volunteer. One of my top 5 strengths is “Achiever” which is why I love to make lists and check off items on those lists each day. This allows me to feel that I am accomplishing something of value each day as a result of my efforts and hard work.
Back to what I observed around the outside of my home – weeds, landscaping that needs to be overhauled, french drains that need to be cleaned out so my yard isn’t a swamp, new paint on the trim, new windows and cracks in the driveway. Each of these areas needs renewal in order to prevent higher repair or replacement costs in the future and preserving the integrity of the home in the long run.
With this new season, comes the relaunch or renewal of not only the blog here at Cassie Reid Counseling but in other key areas as well. We took some time away following the 2014 Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays before choosing to resume the sharing of our teams thoughts, hearts and experiences here on the blog, but also to examine what God’s plan and vision is for 2015 and beyond for CRC. Each year, Cassie and I take some time away from our day-to-day responsibilities to examine where CRC has been, examine it’s current state and to hear from God what He has planned for the future.
We are challenged by God in Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” because renewal is needed to ensure we stay sharp, that we are looking ahead and that we move forward rather than take a step back.
Renewal – we are constantly looking for areas that need renewal at CRC to better serve you and the surrounding communities. Thank you for your support and thank you for trusting our team to serve you.
