I have a sweet friend that recently wrote about her struggle with an eating disorder. I have found that freedom lies in being this transparent. When we allow ourselves to really see what is happening under the surface we then allow ourselves to function at full capacity. This story not only inspires me but I know will inspire many. I encourage you to truly take the time necessary to look at yourself. It only will bring positive change and motivation to be the best individual you can be. Here are her final thoughts and words that can be applied to all situations. Take note…
“Now I can confidently say that I am in a place where I’m not afraid of food, nor do I abuse it. I feel beautiful not because of what size I wear but because I was created in the image of my Heavenly Father. It’s so easy to forget how precious it is just to be alive. I refuse to let another minute go by hating my body. And I refuse to let society establish a “correct” way to look and live.
Society tells us “beauty is pain.” I’m sorry, but if being beautiful hurts then we’re doing it wrong.
Society tells us that it’s normal to feel fat and therefore talk about feeling fat. I say friends don’t let friends fat talk, hey ladies?
Anorexia is a disease, not a fashion statement. So let’s spend less time in the mirror and more time feeling awesome.
You are loved.
You are capable.
You are valuable.
You are irreplaceable
You are not alone.
Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, remember to Whom you belong. You are beautiful from the tips of your toes to the depths of your soul. And your story is incredibly significant.
Love is louder than the pressure to be perfect.”
