Hope is Powerful

I was having coffee with a good friend over the weekend and she made a statement that I can’t seem to forget. She was discussing a recent situation and said “Hope is powerful”. I couldn’t help but stop to let that statement resonate in my mind. I think that many individuals in countless situations tend to lean on the side of hopelessness. We fail to see that there are circumstances that bring hope to a situation that otherwise may seem insurmountable.

There have been so many times in my life where things have seemed hopeless. I recall the year where my husband was involved in a corporate downsizing resulting in his position being eliminated the week before Christmas. Many days it felt like there was not another job coming, that bills would not be paid, and that we were just going to sink into a dark hole, but God always came through with a bit of hope. No matter how hopeless things felt there was always hope and an outlet for our successes in a time that looked like failure. I remember each time my husband would get a call for an interview, find a new position available, or apply for something new, that the power of hope would arise. We would find new life and new motivation to keep going just one more day, week, or month. Overall our circumstances seemed impossible but with hope and God, the impossible became a reality. So my question for you is this, “What in your life seems hopeless?” “What thing seems impossible?” I can assure you, if you check your gut and ask yourself what is true there will be some glimmer of hope, and that, my friends, is powerful.
